about me

Let me introduce myself.

Hi! My name is Theresa. Why spend your time here? I’m hoping that as you read my posts, you will be encouraged, maybe learn something as I share my experiences and have a laugh or two.

Mr Z and I married very young. We had 3 kids in 3 years. We were flat broke but we worked our way through all of that and just celebrated our 40th anniversary with a trip to Hawaii! My hubby said this milestone deserved a trip of a lifetime!

I’m employed at a local community bank and have worked there for 36 years, from a teller to currently part of the executive team. I also play guitar and sing in our contemporary praise band occasionally. I’ve written some plays that have been performed locally and written some short stories and poems….. and a song or two.  I was raised in the country, 1 of 4.  Mr. Z was raised a farm boy, 1 of 6 kids and is a truck driver and is the sweetest guy ever. Four years ago we built our dream home on the family farm next to a pond. More on that later, including pics.

My first series of posts are going to focus on caring for elderly parents. It seems so many of my co-workers and friends are dealing with that. Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of first hand experience. My mom passed away at 58 from a long battle with cancer (I was 28). My dad had a massive stroke at 88 and had to be in the nursing home for 3 years before he passed. My mother-in-law died at 81, a result of a fall at home. My father-in-law suffered from a little dementia – but mostly just old age and worn out body! He passed not that long ago at our home on the farm at the age of 91.

All these and many more experiences have given me some wisdom about dealing with the hard things life throws at us. But don’t worry, there is lots of laughter, joy and fun in our world also! My faith has helped me to come through better and not bitter. Can I help you do the same?
